Sustainability, environment, ethics
A COMPREHENSIVE VIEW ON SUSTAINABILITY
Obducat has for many years had well-established processes for its sustainability work in environment and work environment, quality, ethics, communication and equal opportunities. At the same time, there is always room for improvement, and Obducat’s policy document is continuously reviewed in order to maintain the highest possible social, economic and environmental standard.
Minimised impact on the environment
Treating all environmental related issues transparently and with honesty form part of the environmental work. Consideration for the environment is fundamental in each separate project. On the basis of this, the equipment is manufactured with minimal impact on the environment and with nature in focus. In order to promote effective material recycling, all the Company’s purchasing is furthermore made in accordance with an established environmental perspective in mind. The aim is not only to meet, but to exceed, all environmental requirements set by the authorities.
Clear environmental policy
Also under the heading of environment comes the actual work environment for the employees. The goal is to provide a stimulating work environment encouraging progress for all. In addition to preventing and minimising risk of accidents by means of a clear work environment policy, the expressed desire is to offer an in every way possible healthy and attractive workplace. In 2009 absence due to illness was 1.3 per cent, compared with 1.4 per cent in 2008.
Superior quality a requirement
Punctual delivery and satisfactory quality without exception has the highest priority at Obducat. The quality policy stipulates that all commitments should be met on time, in full, faultlessly, and at a price considered to offer added value for the customer. An essential part of this ambition is making sure that all employees concerned are informed of the customer’s requirements and specifications. The employees are encouraged to also use every opportunity to influence and develop the work aimed at improving quality. A clear indication of success in this respect is that compensation claims and warranty costs are very low.

Comprehensive ethical view
Interested parties span a broad range – shareholders and the rest of the capital market, media, authorities, suppliers, partners, customers and employees – and it is Obducat’s duty to meet their special interests. A basic condition that must be fulfilled is promoting high business ethics and sound business practice. All manufacturing outside Obducat is carried out by selected, quality assured subcontractors. Customer-friendly pricing and the ability to meet changing demands is fortified through rational and cost-effective production. Reliable delivery, cost-efficiency, excellent service and capacity to meet customers’ every need are for Obducat central conceptions.
Open and efficient communication
With a sphere of activities that in many cases is both complex and changing, not making things unnecessarily difficult is the aim. Obducas strives towards transparency, honesty, objectivity, promptness, clarity and long-termism in all external communications, the stock market and mass media included. However there is a small exception; with regard to the uncertainty of, above all, business intelligence factors, Obducat will according to a previous decision not present exact prognostications on sales and return – on certain occasions only will trend information on sales and return be provided. Interim reports, year-end reports and annual reports will always be available on the Obducat website.
Equal opportunities throughout
Obducat’s equal opportunities policy is based on respecting and having confidence in all employees – the same applies to the employees among themselves – as well as equal opportunities for all. The policy is supplemented by an action plan supporting equal pay. The wording of the policy shall be reviewed on a yearly basis. Efforts promoting equal opportunities and cultural variety shall be integrated with Obducat’s current work and is based on the principle that all employees have the same rights and duties. The policy shall also further men’s and women’s equal rights as regards work, conditions of employment and promotional opportunities.
Left to do
In all respects Obducat makes great demands on its own organisation, and the important areas of quality, ethics and environment – workwise as well as from a broader perspective – are no exception. Despite high ambitions and a functioning work schedule, there is also scope for self-criticism. Sustainability work has its weak points and there is still work to be done. Therefore, Obducat strives to continuously sharpen and update the framework for the everyday work.
