Employees
Over the years Obducat has grown into an excellent blend of differing competences and backgrounds. On the whole the employees are a truly international blend, where the joint knowledge is Obducat’s most important asset and competitive advantage.
In order to attract employees, participation in joint research projects with academia and attending relevant training and labour market days goes without saying. When recruiting new employees, education and experience are of course factors of importance, but not everything. Also qualities like commitment and creativity carry great weight. A high working pace and great individual responsibility makes the personal commitment invaluable. Searching for persons with the right combination of competence and attitude enables Obducat to offer a creative work environment with an excellent innovation climate. Obducat is basically an entrepreneurial company, committed to upholding this identity.

The welcoming face of Obducat
If you have ever been in contact with Obducat, you have probably had the chance to talk to or meet her. For most everything and everyone arriving at Obducat pass via Cecilia Juréus. In her capacity as Management Assistant, providing assistance to the management and board of directors constitutes an important part of her working life, as does, as the spider in the web, arranging visits from various delegations.
Cecilia’s career at Obducat started as a consultant hired from a staff agency in the early 00’s, however since 2003 she is a permanent and important cog in the big wheel. Like many of the other employees, she emphasises that workdays full of variety is a big advantage, with a fast pace and lots of things happening all the time. Cecilia has seen Obducat grow and change, something which, in her opinion, is entirely positive.
– During my years here I have witnessed the enormous progress that Obducat has undergone. After having been co-ordinating single visits from institutions and universities, it is these days often more about big, well-known companies requiring our equipment in their production. It really feels as we are in the process of crossing a threshold!

Co-worker and winner of obducat prize
In the beginning of 2006, dr Ki-Dong Lee and his colleagues at LG electronics in South Korea received the 2005 year obducat prize for their work with the development of the polarisation filter for projection-type displays by the use of nanoimprint lithography (NIL). Four years later dr Ki-Dong Lee is an important asset to Obducat in the further development of its imprint processes here in Malmö. He joined the company at the end of 2008 and holds the impressive title of senior specialist in NIL. His own description of how he ended up at Obducat is as natural as it is straightforward:
– I was interested in working for Obducat, so I asked them and they said yes.
Working to refine the imprint process has made Ki-Dong a well-known sight in obducat’s laboratory, however, much time is also spent popping over to his office – where he keeps himself updated by reading technical magazines and checking his emails – and attending meetings.
– With the transition to industrial production and everything connected with that, I find that working for Obducat is an interesting phase. I do believe that the further development of Obducats NIL- tecknology holds big potential.

Work description: Being a step ahead
Robert Sjödin’s work as Head of Business Development is mostly about tomorrow: What is being researched? Which applications areas are in view? Where are Obducat’s development resources put to the best use? It is often a question of a perspective of several years. In a market where changes may take place in only a few months, it is certainly a challenge to foresee the future. An important indicator of the future development is activities at research institutes and universities; yet another is of course what other market players are engaged in. Obducat has close connections with several of these players, oftentimes within the framework of partner networks and major projects with many participants.
Robert has been with Obducat for nearly three years. Among other things, he has previously held the position of technical manager at a med-tech company. In addition to keeping up to date with the trade, regular trips to the US are part of the job, where he supports Obducat’s local organisations in different ways. Within Europe Robert is engaged in building networks with a view to starting new EU projects, a process which many times can be both lengthy and demanding. Only projects with the biggest potential get funded. The EU projects in which Obducat takes part involve careful documentation and follow-up, which causes a lot of paperwork.
– Certainly, there can be plenty of formalities when projects are at the supranational level, but it is worth it. Obducat shall take part in leading the development.
