Today Obducat AB consists of the parent company Obducat AB and its two subsidiaries Obducat Technologies, located in Sweden, and Obducat CamScan in England. In addition to these two operating companies there are a further six subsidiaries with, for the time being, no employees and operations that are either limited or dormant.

Operative structure

The Parent Company Obducat AB, which is listed on the NGM, provides mainly strategic and financial resources to the subsidiaries, and deals with financial planning and control of these. In view of the smallness of the Group, the employees of the Parent Company provide a managerial and corporate function for principally the two operating units.

Operations take place in the two subsidiaries Obducat Technologies AB and Obducat CamScan Ltd (Great Britain). Obducat Technologies AB, active in the technological areas of NIL (nanoimprint lithography) and EB (electron beam), are active in the development and sale of product solutions for the manufacture and replication of advanced micro and nanostructures. Obducat CamScan Ltd operates in the technological areas of SEM and EBR, involving production and sale of scanning electron microscopes as well as applications of electron beam technology.
 

Research and development

26 persons are currently working with research and development, most of them on further development of the NIL technology. Obducat continues to pursue its own research work in order to further evolve NIL and EBR in new applications. Seeing that NIL today is considered to be a well-established production method within research organisations, Obducat’s internal development work is, and will be, more concentrated on the demand for progress in the respective application areas. For this reason Obducat needs to work closely with industrial customers to develop and adapt equipment and processes for high volume manufacturing. The development work needs to be conducted jointly with the customers to allow for minimised costs and reduced risks. Obducat expects to continue expanding its R&D organisation as the market grows in order to guarantee the speedy development expected by the customers.

Marketing and sales

Obducat Technologies AB carries out marketing and sales in the areas of NIL and EBR. Obducat CamScan Ltd is responsible for marketing and sales of SEM. Obducat intends to expand its own sales organisation with a view to creating greater capacity to win new customers as well as support for agents and distributors around the world. Obducat’s own sales organisation monitors primarily immediate geographic markets, while agents and distributors are engaged to manage other markets. Major industrial projects will also in the future be conducted by Obducat’s own employees in collaboration with the end customer and, in the case that agents/distributors have been engaged, with these. Nine persons work with marketing and sales.

Production

Obducat has in the past few years dedicated extensive efforts on reducing lead times in logistics. Since the Company has a relatively large number of subcontractors, this work has been highly prioritised and also successful. Focus has also been on further securing the use of multiple suppliers for all critical components. More emphasis has also been on working systematically with quality assurance. Nineteen persons work with purchasing and production.

Finance and administration

Finance and administration are organised under one centralised department for the Swedish companies, and on local basis in England for Obducat CamScan Ltd. During the past few years the work has been carried out within the framework of well established systems and routines. Nine persons work with finance and administration.

Legal structure

Obducat consists of nine companies including the parent company Obducat AB (publ). The head office is located in Malmö. The parent company, Obducat AB (publ), is the holding company of the other Group companies. The Swedish part of the Group has four subsidiaries, of which only Obducat Technologies AB has operating activities of considerable proportions. The other Swedish subsidiaries are Obducat MNP AB (limited operating activities), SmartTag AB (dormant), and Xicon Battery Electronics AB (dormant). The British part of the Group consists of the holding company Obducat UK Ltd, parent company of the two British subsidiaries Obducat CamScan Ltd (active) and Obducat Properties Ltd (dormant). The American company Obducat Inc. is for the time being also dormant. All subsidiaries are wholly owned.
